Master bedroom suite facing the Chesapeake Bay. The approach was modern luxe. Minimal furnishings with rich textures. We are big proponents of finish reduction and tone on tone color schemes. In the sitting area we painted trim and walls to the same color to eliminate the contrast. This made the ceiling appear to be higher and increased the overall sense of spaciousness. The millwork became a sculptural element providing a subtle depth and richness. Giorgio Soressi's Como Sofa and Basso Table in Carrara were paired with authentic Mies van der Rohe Barcelona Chairs upholstered in buttery soft Sabrina leather. Centered over the Basso Table hangs Angelo Mangiarotti's 1967 designed Giogali Chandelier. Made with handblown Murano glass rings, it looks as captivating off as it does on.
Made in Los Angeles by one of our talented artisans, a completely custom diamond tufted platform bed anchors the space. We utilized a finely textured metallic KNOLL textile to create this modern interpretation of traditional technique. Our friends at Industrya produced case goods we designed for this project. We mixed continuous matched walnut and high gloss lacquer to create coordinating pieces. All utilize top quality Blum push latch for an ultra-clean presentation. Providing illumination, and a bit more drama bedside, are Sebastian Wrong's Spun Lamps in polished aluminum. Perched on the tray topped dresser is Patricia Urquiola's sculptural Tatou Lamp in White.
To take advantage of the view we positioned Eero Saarinen's Womb Chair and Ottoman made by KNOLL facing the bank of windows. It is the only one of its kind upholstered in Spinneybeck Hand Tipped White Pine leather. This was a special accommodation KNOLL made specifically for this client. The White Pine leather has a soft ivory background that complements the lacquer color of the case goods. The hand tipping effect pulls forward the gold tones of the custom diamond tufted bed. Beautifully paired with a Saarinen Side Table in polished Calacatta Marble.
